COVID-19 SEASON UPDATE

To our valued members:

We truly hope that each and every one of you is remaining healthy and safe during this unprecedented time. We have all been faced with challenges in our every day lives and I’m sure, you have had to make sacrifices and compromises along the way. It is of the utmost importance that everyone continues to do their part to help contain the COVID-19 virus and continue to support those that can not remain out of harms way. We have a number of members in our league that work every day as police officers, fire fighters, nurses, medical staff, care workers, truck drivers and many others that have been deemed essential. To all of you, we salute you and thank you for your efforts and your dedication.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the cancelation of our spring 2020 season. The City Of Surrey has closed all parks indefinitely through the month of April and a date of re-opening is uncertain at this time. We were hopeful and optimistic that we’d be able to continue playing but, that is not the case. As all of you are aware, this is beyond the control of any of us. The health and well being of our members, our football family and their families is beyond the importance of anything else.

At this point, we are still planning to go ahead with our summer coed tournament (Rally Rai memorial) July 18th and 19th at Newton Athletic Park. We have three fields booked out and are looking forward to a great weekend of football. We invite everyone to register their teams for the tournament once registration opens at the end of April.

We again, thank you all for your support and cooperation through this season as you’ve all done in seasons past and we look forward to getting back on the field as soon as possible.

Greatest regards,

The admin team at SFFL
